The trinket sellers of Paris

sunny 22 °C

This morning, the whole crew meet at the Eiffel Tower and we decide to ascend by foot.

A proliferation of trinket sellers peddle their wares both here and at numerous other sites around the city.

Next stop was the Palais de la Découverte, a science museum with plenty of hands-on exhibits for the kids – who give them a vigorous work-out! (That's why there are no photos... yours truly was too busy with the exhibits!)

My apartment in Paris

sunny 22 °C

Paris touchdown was at 6.00 am. My first task is to set up mobile communications. I buy a local SIM card so I can contact the apartment people and pick up the keys...but not without a couple of photo stops of course! These were taken whilst moseying along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.

As it turns out, the apartment is located on the 4th floor of a lift-free building, right next to a boutique cheese shop! But on the plus side, it's centrally located on the Left Bank, with a view overlooking Boulevard Raspail (7th arrondissement).

Destination Paris!

overcast 20 °C

So there I was, freshly laid-off, wondering what to do with the rest of my life, when I received a call from my friend Mark.
"Hey Scott ... myself, Evelyn and the kids are going to Paris. Want to come?"
"Hell, yeah!"
What better way to delay major life decisions than with an impromptu holiday?
So I booked a flight, bought luggage and a laptop, reserved an apartment online, and three weeks later I was off.
The in-flight movie was "The Company Men", about company layoffs. Timely.
